Srinagar  (KNO) : Archeological Department is in deep sleep as Hamam of Darashaku Mosque converted into the residental house. Darashaku is located in Downtown area of Srinagar Darashaku Mosque was built in 1639 A.H, by Son of Shah Jahan Dara Shikoh. While taking with a local poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef he told KNO that the son of Shah Jahan Dara Shikoh built this mosque for his tutor Akhun Mulla Shah said a local Poet.

Darashaku is made of grey lime stone and stone of lotus final over the pulpit is the only example of it kind. Hamam of Darashaku Masjid is 500 yards away from the Mosque. Darashaku Masjid have 8 washrooms which are made inside of the hamam of masjid.

A small mosque is aslo located in the centre for the paryers. Inside Darashaku Masjid a beautiful pool was also located with beautifully made in Iranian style but unfortunately this beautiful Monument has been illegally occupied by the family of Shah Begum as her husband was working for the same department of Archeology and he was appointed there to look after the precious monument. After his death his family illegally occupied the Hamam of Darashaku Masjid while talking with the said family about why you occupied the Hamam they said we need compensation from the Government then we will leave from here.

Darashaku Hamam turned into their home as Archeology department has left the beautiful precious monument to die. Later While our Correspondent of KNO talked with the Shah Begum she said that the monument is still alive because of us from so many years. We are homeless we don’t have anykind source of income from which we can effort a house were we reside.

We are demanding Government for compensation as they have already provided us a quarter but there we cant reside properly as we have two families we cant accommodate there as we have many members so we requested Government many times after getting the quarter that accommodate our two families very well were we both families can reside easily but till now no one listened us. We will not leave this place till Government will not fullfil our genuine demand.(KNO)
